I run a seven2 ISO from P&P - shipping interisland with them is cheap, don't sweat it - it was under 10 bucks IIRC.  it went USPS priority mail, had it a day or two.

It's a great paddle for a good price.

I've never heard of Seven2 so I Googled them after reading these threads.  Seems that they're no longer in the paddle making business.  http://www.seven2.com/

From their site...

Seven2 has discontinued production of their kayak paddles. Our stock at seven2paddlesales.com is gone as of July 6, 2009.
If and when production resumes we will reactivate our site.

Studies say 60% of the time it works every time.

Also, I've used quite a few paddles. I have an Epic paddle for sea kayaking. Crazy light. Crazy expensive (got it used crazy cheap). The paddle that  has impressed me lately is my Aquabound carbon. They like to sell their snazzy adjustable ferrule system, but DON'T buy it, it breaks really easy. The sell that paddle in the traditional '2 position' feather/nonfeathered adjustment system. That paddle rocks. Light-ish, cheap-ish. Kind of half way between the cheap paddles & crazy expensive boys.

Oh, and the most important thing is you want to get the right shape paddle. Long & skinny. I haven't yet found one too skinny for open ocean use.

My $0.02.

Ive had the Hobie paddle. Piece of SHYT. It would flex right when you didnt want it to. You know when your running from the surf. Wish there was still the seven2 paddles around.

Seven2 paddles are HORRIBLE. If you come across a pair just send them to us! HAHAHAHAHA! :D :D They're actually the best paddles we've ever used.

That being said...I (Kevin) had my first outing using a Hobie w/Mirage Drive & Turbo Fins and now I'm a believer! Damn that's a great invention!

Just got the Werner San Juan, and it is a great paddle.  Could not beleive that a paddle could make that much of a difference.  Thanks Go Bananas for the recommendation.
