Paddle Smart Sticker
« on: September 22, 2010, 10:29:42 AM »
Not sure if anyone posted about this subject before but there are some stickers that are being distributed by the USCG for kayaks, paddleboards, etc. that are not required to be registered as boats are. The objective is to help quickly ID who owns wayward or lost kayaks, etc. This will help safety officials really know if the owner is in trouble or if the "vessel" just got away.

Go to this Facebook page for more information:

Paddle Smart Sticker

The USCG booth should have them at the 5th Annual HFSF. Hoping Aquahunters will too.

Paddle Smart Sticker & Float Plan
« Reply #1 on: October 13, 2010, 05:45:19 PM »
If you came to the PIFG Hawaii Fishing Festival we may have given you one (or more) of these stickers. We still have stickers and brochures that we'd like to get out to you all, BUT we're not a for-profit kind of organization, SO we can't afford to mail them out to you. We'll be keeping a supply of the stickers in our truck and car, so if we see you we can give it to you. We're going to take them to the AquaHunters Makahiki Banquet and we'll try to figure out how to get them to all you AH family members on the other islands. We could send them to you if you mail us a self addressed, stamped envelope, but then that would put you out about $1 after you figure in the stamps and envelopes. (Anyone have any suggestions?)

The USCG guys that we talked to said that they're for non-motorized ocean vessels...and you can even stick them on your paddle if you like. At least one of the contact numbers that you put on the sticker should be of someone who has your float plan. There is a float plan thread in here but I'll post what we got from the USCG.
