Grant's Makahiki

Grant Stolhand "aka Grant's World"

Big Island

4 seasons total, 3rd year in the Pro Div.

Jackson Kayak- Kraken
Ocean Kayak- Prowler Trident 15

Been Kayak fishing now for 5 years and there is still so much to learn.  I'm very happy to have the chance to fish with some of the best on this island but still learning mostly by trial and error.  As a weekend warrior I hope I get the chance to get out  often and be productive.  I'm honored to be fishing with the rest of the Pro Division and hope that I can keep up.
Best wishes for all Aquahunters!!!  Stay Safe and Tight Lines.

Little tune up today.  Wasn't much to really report but during the cleaning the fish I found the Mahi was an Aha killer.

The Aha was folded over in three folds in the belly.

Good luck tomorrow and for the rest of the year!
A bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work.

Day 2 had great looking water but that's about it.  No bait holding in any of the normal spots and wasn't able to mark the fish on the outside....  Spent a while at least catching dinner (kept 3 Moano) before heading in.  Will have to ask about points for Moano.  Last years points of Moano was 2 pts. but the score sheet has Moano listed as 6 points.  Any help before listing anything would be great.

Moano-   6 points
Moano-   6 points

Day 2 points-  12 points
Total points-   27 points

Day 3 was a bit windy where it wasn't forecast to be.  The normal bait spot was holding.... just not opelu.  After two bait rigs were destroyed I changed the setup and took it out on the A'ha.  Spent the rest of the day paddling into the wind.  I did catch my first and second red rovers (the red/orange opelu).

Picture includes my Moano from yesterday (day-2)

Was a great day for water conditions at a hard to launch spot... to bad the fish didn't realize they were suppose to be there.  Paddled around with Shawn most of the morning with my one live Opie running long and a dead Opie short.  No one wanted to play.  Later in the afternoon I started dropping a little deeper and was able to hook up one of three good strikes.  In the process I missed an Ono on the live Opie, never even knew he got hit till I reeled him in and the back 1/4 was missing.

I will take a picture tomorrow and upload and total the points.

Shibi-  9.61 lbs.  10 points

Total points-  57 points
