Mr Mano loves me! lol he still left me some to claim so i cant cry too much! Had the shibi up by the yak for about 3 seconds where i coulda got a kage shot on him but i wasn't sure what i had so wasn't ready and he ran back down a bit and then ran a bit more (when he was in the sharks mouth) then i got him up and in the yak fast lol. Got a Kawakawa that was super hungry lol 5.5 lbs kawa with a 1.5 lbs fatty opelu hanging out his mouth. had a couple misses then the wind picked up and i called it good.

Day 23
Shibi 24 lbs (weight after the shark took his share) = 40
Kawakawa 5.5 lbs = 10
Day total 50

Running total = 441 +50 = 491

Well, i made it out and man i wish i coulda stayed out longer, the wind turned out to be not too bad at all. Had some luck with bait and got an aha right off the bat....then got more aha bites.....then finally when i was just about to call it got a screamah! he was a brute but was stoked to land him. I will upload video of the whole process if needed later but i used braided line to get his length. I measured to the fork with it, then tied a knot in the line to mark it and then verified i had the knot in the right spot. I have a measuring tape in the yak but it only goes up to 40 inches so got home and measure the line and it is indeed 44.5 inches. the conversion chart has 42" = 52.4 lbs and then 45" = 64.4 lbs so i guess i have to go with 52.4 lbs for mine? either way was fun and now i gotta get to work!

Day 24
Aha = 10
Ulua 52 lbs CNR= 37

total 47

running total through 24 days =491+47=538

getting length

have video of the whole piece of line to ensure accuracy if needed

Good luck everyone. I only have 1 day left but the wind is too sketchy for me to bother going out there. might go up to the lake and catch some bass tomorrow instead. easy to hide from the wind up there lol. no points for bass :( Go Easy and be safe for all that get out in this crap!

Day 25 was a windy nasty one lol. got out mainly just to use that last day. Fitting the only thing caught was an opelu (eaten almost instantly by a stupid aha without getting hooked), a goat, a couple taape and a papio. gopro had water smeared on the lens so pictures kinda blurry.

Papio CNR = 7
Goat CNR = 8

Day 25 total = 15

2015 Makahiki Total = 538+15= 553

What a year. I love the way the competition pushes us to be better. Always learning new things in the way we fish, the rigs, the bait, the weather, just about every aspect is something you can learn more about. Great time and great folks. Special HUGE Mahalos to Tofu for the work put in and always being open to the random question that got asked try to figure out what a fish was or what counted as what. Good people all around, can't wait to link up with more of you! Thanks to all!
Go easy!!!

Good progression this season Brad.
Keep trying new things and new idea's. The term "if it's not broke don't fix it" dose not apply to kayak fishing.  ;)
