Things are finally coming together
« on: August 18, 2015, 11:47:31 PM »
Well caught my 2nd and 3rd pelagics off of a yak on sunday. Went out following a bird seeing it dive I dropped for bait as I disn't have a fish finder. Got lucky got one opelu right! Rigged it up and sent out right away, got it at distance set the drag and clicker went to go back to bait fishing. Before I could even drop my sabiki again my reel starts going off (a beautiful sound hearing a reel that you have never caught anything on going off)! A couple of min later have a 15lb kawakawa in the yak! Try finding bait again and my partner gave me a partially alive bait. I rig it up and throw it out, get distance on it and troll kinda slow. Reel makes a couple of clicks with no run. Start trolling faster knowing bait was almost dead and my reel starts making a couple of clicks again. I pick up the rod and start reeling in and the fish on the other end decides he wants to take line instead. Another couple of minutes I land my first shibi at 12lbs. Was an awesome day and can't wait to keep landing fish!
A bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work.

Congratz man. Best part is seeing the effort pay off.
