Lol... It wasn't like that when we launched. Buoy readings faked us out.

Took off work since Yokos went mainland right after the fishing session. Had to get some points for BBDS

Humbling day today. Llobes, Yoko, and I made a total of 0 bait. Got a rat kawa on damashi and Kyle got a rat mahi on a dead.

After a couple hours I was getting restless, so I did what most single guys do. I paddled on the side and starting jigging off. Luckily it paid off and I got a donkey ulua. Wasn't easy as my drag didn't engage for the first few minutes. All I had was my thumb to stop it and it was not working all that great. Took out about 150 yds and then all of a sudden it turned on and I almost flipped from the sudden jerk. Nice fight on my micro reel. Almost had to keep her as I was having trouble reviving. Poked the air bag and she still wouldn't go down. After about 10 min I thought it was ova and I would have to bring her home. Gave it one last try pushing her head first in to the depths and she swam away.

Went out deeeeeep looking for bait but still didn't see a thing. On the way back in got hit on my last dead. Thought it was an ono at first, but eventually it did what mahis do. It was in a small school, but I was out of ammo so I went in.

Tavis Day 7
40lb CNR Ulua = 32 Points - 40" measurement. Vid sent to Tofu, Isaac, and Byron. If you want proof PM me your number and Ill text it to u.
Mahi 13.22 = 20 Points

Kyle Day 6
Kawa 4.07 = 5 Points
Mahi 7.71 = 10 Points

32 + 20 + 5 + 10 = 67 Points

Current total 497 + 67 = 564 Points

Right on!  Where did the bait go yesterday?  After 7am they disappeared for me too.  Spent like 5 hours looking.  Way to make something happen when the opelu hides.  Nice ones!

Hooo hooo. Long day hoping for the best, but slow as can be. Waiting for the weather to open up some choice spots, but had to go where could go. At least the spot we chose stayed pretty nice the whole time and we got to take out a visiting friend. Did I mention I snagged a kahala? Haha. Beats watching reality shows.

Tavis Day 8
Kahala 10lbs CNR - 17 pts    Got em at 33 inches. Chart has 27" at 10 and 36" at 25 lbs.
Hage CNR - 7 pts

Kyle
Moano CNR X 2 = 16 pts

17 + 16 + 7 = 40 pts

Running Total
40 + 564 = 604 pts

Busy week ahead of me, not much time to fish this weekend. Going to sneak in a short one at backyard goat factory. I predict 16 points, hopefully it goes according to plan haha.

Day 9
Shoulda gone in at 6:30. Neva catch nothing after that. Couple missed strikes kept me lured out there. Luckily the wind filled in and reminded me I got lots of other things to take care of this weekend. At least I beat my goal of two goats. Got one goat and a cnr ulua. I am putting it down at 20lbs. 30 inches on chart is 19.5 lbs mine was 32 inches. If anyone is not cool with that please let me know. Got my PB nabeta also for sunday morning chazuke. Hopefully my yak_uza brethren does some work tomorrow.

Cnr ulua 20lb =22 pts
Cnr moano = 8 pts

Day 9 total = 30

Running total 604 + 30 = 634 pts

Day 8 5/22 for Kyle.

Short fishing day that ended up being a super long day. Took two strikes, lost an Ono and hooked up to an Ahi 5 mins later. Fought the Ahi for around 40 minutes and had it up and down around 70ft below the yak. Friend who was visiting from out of town yells, "get sharks under me and they coming for you!" I put the reel in sunset, rested it against the yak and tried to podagee crank it up. Wasn't fast enough as 4 sharks took turns taking chunks. When I finally got it into the yak,  2 sharks followed and circled us for a while and then disappeared. Chompys got lunch but so do I.

Kyle day 8 - Ahi 125.5# 175

Total 809
