Thanks Nick!

None of the pelagics stuck and the ahas were fed.  Only a jack cnr for 7 points.  Didn't even want to hang out for a few more minutes to pick up another one.  I'll post the pic tomorrow.

Water was warming up quick as the currents started to shift north.  Saw another guy get dragged out for a mile or so on a lost ahi hookup.  Bait wasn't a problem but getting a solid hook set was.  Unfortunately, none of the yellow guys but I still managed to pull up a decent kawa.

I will post the pic of the omilu cnr from yesterday in the next post so not to confusing.

Yesterday's day 13 total:
jack cnr: 7pts

Old team total: 676pts + 7pts = 683pts

Today's day 14 total:
jack cnr: 7pts
10+kawa: 20pts

Old team total: 683pts + 27pts = 710

Thanks Nick!  Good seeing you out there too Ben!

Unfortunately, I had to shut a new job site down just now because it still needs to be emptied before the renovation can start.  Fortunately, the weather is absolutely perfect for hunting pelagics.  Gonna claim a solo afternoon sesh for Rob Kramer today, 6/13/2016/day 15.

The ahas were out today like a pelagic virus.  I guess it's that time of the year again.  I picked this aha up at nearly 1,000 feet on an aha double strike.  At sunset the pelagics started to get active.  On my last three baits, I lost a nice kawa at the side of the yak, landed another kawa and had an ono run before chewing through my leader.

Rob's day 15 total:

aha = 10pts
10+lb kawa = 20pts
total: 30pts

New team total:

710pts + 30pts= 740pts

I got a late start and launched around 8:30.  Fortunately, I managed to pick up 9 pieces of bait at one of my usual spots.  As soon as I got out to deeper water, the action was there.  Before I could set me second bait loose, I had a mean strike from a big kawa or maybe a shibi.  A few minutes into the fight, the fish shook the hook, so I dropped two more baits.  This time a double strike but only one 15lb kawa stuck.  I noticed the currents shifted and the water started to warm up more than a degree.  I dropped a couple more baits and picked up a 15lb kaku cnr within minutes.  Then the action died out so I paddled out to 1000 feet hoping for an ahi.  Didn't happen, bait steeling ahas were patrolling the deeper water... What?  I paddled back to the 40 and had another double but only one stuck.  This time it was a 15lb shibi.  Now, I needed more bait so I paddled back to the opelu's koa.  They were scattered and I spent a couple hours eventually picking up 4 baits.  I paddled out to 350 and the water erupted with massive kawas and 30+lb shibis a 100 yards away.  I dropped a couple baits and had another double but only a tiny 5lb kawa stuck so I released it.  I dropped another bait and before I could drop a second bait, an ono screamed line off my reel until chewing though the leader.  My last bait was a massive opelu and he lasted maybe 10 minutes before getting destroyed in an explosion behind my kayak.  The hook up ran and peeled line off my reeel for about 45 seconds before the hook popped.

Robs's Day 16 total:
15+lb kawa = 30pts
15+lb shibi = 30pts
total = 60pts

New team total:
740pts + 60pts = 800pts

Thanks Justin!  Usually the bad hooksets don't last more that a few seconds for me.  Yesterday, most of the fish were on for a few minutes before loosing them.

Nice Rob! I've yet to see boiling water of any kind...except when I make hard boiled eggs.
