Fresh dead bait. We only catch sharks with live bait. Our favorites...wahanui, opelu, and unicorn (people have heard about it, but never seen it).

Break It Down
First fish caught on kayak?

I think we both caught omilus on our first day kayak fishing using whipping bubble rigs w/curly tails.

Craziest/scariest story on the water?

When we hooked our first marlin, we got her to leader in about 10 minutes. Well, "we" actually didn't get her up to leader, she swam up to us, looked straight at us w/her colors glowing, then raced away from us, turned around and started jumping toward us. Thank goodness she got tired after 9 jumps or so and didn't spear us with her bill! 

Favorite Fish to catch?

All fish are fun to catch, but if we had to choose, we'd choose Onos and Mahis. We wish we could say Shibi/Ahi, but we’re not the Cho Bros.

How did you get into this sport?

Long story short...We fished from the shoreline with our parents as long as I can remember. We decided to walk and wade out to fish off of the outer reefs because there was less fish near shore, then we used to fish off of our surfboards, then an inflatable raft. We finally got a kayak and were hooked ever since.

What would you tell someone who is thinking of getting into kayak fishing?

Take it slow. Learn to balance and paddle off your kayak before fishing off of it. Start with light line 20# test or less because it's easy to cut in case of emergency.

What do you want to be remembered for in this sport?

We want to be remembered for being good fishermen and good watermen, but most of all good people.
